DEFENCE DOG SECTION
ThreeSixtyDS were invited by the MoD to develop a new dog facility as an exemplar for future
sites. Whilst the technical requirements for dog sections are clearly identified in statutory
documentation, we were also interested in how differences between dogs and humans might
differentiate this from a more standard building. We discovered that dogs are colour blind
and do not see as clearly as humans, with the result being a building of simple block elements
composed from a simple material palette. Using the colour Blue makes it easier for dogs to
identify the building from its background. For this project we delivered a fully coordinated BIM
Level 2 project through the co-operation of the ThreeSixtyDS Architectural, Structural,
Mechanical and Electrical teams.
