Lee Lower Waterways

Scope of Works

As part of its pledge to improve its condition, every five years the Lee Lower Rivers waterway is subject to technical inspections by the Environmental Agency. We were proud to be asked to be a part of that commitment.

Challenges

The Lee Lower Waterway flows from Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire, down through the Olympic Park and all the way to the Tidal reaches of the River Thames in East London. Years of industrial use and the pressures of urban development have left the rivers of the Lee in a poor condition and destroyed many wildlife habitats. This is about to change.

Design Solution

Our surveyors gathered concrete samples for strength testing, performed rebound hammer tests, alkalinity testing and re-bar cover and supported Environmental Agency engineers in creating informed reports for lifecycle maintenance. Design 360’s skilled specialists collaborated well with the existing teams and our reports were assessed along with engineering calculations to produce recommendations for repair and maintenance solutions.
